Waiting

Well, a lot of people have questions about the evacuation of the Canadian kids - we do too! Nothing is for sure yet. The kids need to be escorted out (of course, someone needs to take care of them) and the Canadians will only let those with Canadian passports do that. This is the same as the other countries. However, the other countries allowed other people to come in on that flight to take care of the kids going out - often even doctors, so the kids would have immediate medical attention on their way to their new home country. With the Canadians, they will be going on a military plane instead of a passenger plane, and I think this is the reason they are not letting anyone come in. Unfortunately, this also means they will not bring us back. The kids getting out is, of course, our very first priority, so if this is the way it has to be, then I guess that's that. However, we came to help - and as soon as the kids are all out, they will start bringing new kids in. We are anticipating the new kids to be quite sick, and they will need all the help they can get. It frustrates us that the Canadian government can't seem to understand that taking all of us out is not a good idea. I want them to know we are not trying to evacuate! We're here on purpose, and they are displacing us! We will likely be flying into Montreal or Ottawa, and meeting the adoptive parents there. It's possible we stay there a day or two if the parents cannot all get there immediately. We are looking into other possibilities of how we might be able to get back, but there are no commercial flights going in or out yet. I don't know if we might be able to get on a supply plane or not, as I said, we have many questions, too! Please pray about this trip, that it all may be sorted out according to God's will.

You are True Angels. I sit here at my computer comptemplating going to help and am amazed at your courage and strength. Since the earthquake I have thought about you so much and checked your facebook to find you are there. Is their a need for Canadian Adoptive parents? I would even take in children as a foster. I am SERIOUS, if there is a need for an adoptive home or foster home please email me or call me. We have thought about this for the last year and never thought the opportunity would ever arrise. decka@telus.net 780 681 3771 Rachael Schiller

Having to leave there so soon doesn't seem to make sense now with all the need around you, but what a privilege for you to be able to deliver these children to their forever homes, into the loving arms of their new families.
May God be with you!!

Is there any chance of going in through the Dominican. Commercial flights are still flying there and Mennonite Central Committee is bringing in supplies from there. Not sure if transportation is even an option from the Dominican in, but might be worth a try. I'm sure the funds for your flights would easily be raised, it's more the ground logistics of getting back to GLA once you're there. Just a thought. We're praying for you and all of the children, volunteers, and Haitian people.

God will make a way where there seems to be no way, He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for you!!!! Trust Him, embrace what He has in store. Am praying the eyes of the Canadian Government be opened to other possibilites to bringing the little ones into Canada safely. Z
