Almost the end!

So here we are at the end of our journey, and I can honestly say " No regrets", and I would definately do it again ( minus Michelle getting puked on).The driving has been entertaining, to say the least. Cramming a vehicle into a hole in traffic that I really don't think my quad could possibly fit into is something that I'm not sure I'll ever quite get used to, especially when the seatbelts don't work or no longer exist because they used them for strapping material.I've had my short life flash before my eyes a few times, but in all the driving to and from Fort Jacques or Port-au-Prince I never once saw an accident. A very good thing, considering that I never once saw a tow truck, Firetruck, ambulance, or a hospital.Trust in God- definately the theme here. There are variations of that sentiment written all over ever tap-tap you come across. Every other tap-tap says THank You Jesus on it, and at first I wondered what they had to be so thankful for, but now I know. We have met some of the best people in the world, all here at GLA, and a few in the nearby community, and along the road to Fort Jacques.I have two new friends at the Epmat ( a local hardware store) who have said that I definately have to look them up next time I am in Haiti. Nobody has ever asked IF I would come back, just WHEN. Once they know you, they are a very friendly type of people with big hearts.

We have made so many new friends here ,too. Manitoba, Ontario, New York, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Amsterdam, to name a few places. It has been so much fun getting to know people from all over the world with a common interest- helping the children of Haiti. God bless every one of them. It was so great, getting to show God's love in a very real and tangible way, regardless of race or creed. Religious affiliation never comes up. God calls us to love, and love we must. I know that for Michelle and I, it will be very hard to leave some of these kids, especially the one that Michelle had for four hours every morning, and pretty much all evening, too. You can't spend 6 hours a day with a kid like this without getting very attached. If we had $10,000 kickin' around burning a hole in our pockets, I'm sure that we would adopt the little tyke.

Which bring me to my next point. At the risk of sounding like a beggar, but GLA could use your help, if you like what we have tried to show you these past few weeks. There's so much more to say and show you, but time is running short.

GLA's donations have slowed down by 40%. Recessions hit everywhere, worldwide, but GLA is a non-profit charitable organization that relies on donations from everyday people. You can get a tax reciept. Canadians must donate through GLA Canada (http://www.glacanada.ca/), the rest of the world through GLA Haiti, which actually is based in Colorado. You can do a one time donation, or sign up for monthly donations, or even sponsor one of these kids for a while til they can go to their families. If you feel called to give, please give. They are a wonderful organization run by Christians showing God's love to the people of Haiti.

We have taken hundreds of pictures and loads of video clips and would love nothing better than to show our story to everyone. We are forever grateful for all the comments people have left us, it is our assurance that there is still life beyond these walls. For those of you who have been praying for us, thank you so much, and don't stop yet. We have one more day to love these kids, then we fly out Friday morning, leaving a big piece of our hearts behind. We are crying even as we write this, snuggling "our" little baby. He's a bit concerned about the tears, but has big smiles for us when we smile at him. Thanks for reading our blog! We might post again tomorrow, but not Friday.

WOW, you guys! I have really enjoyed reading about your experiences there! Thanks for sharing with everyone ... especially loved the humourous twist on some of the entries... awesome! :)
As I read this last post I couldn't help but think of Jesus's own words when He said, "Whatever you did for the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me." (Matt.25:40) That's really what it's all about ... God bless you guys as you travel home!

Garner & Michelle,
It's a blessing and a joy to read your blogs every day. It's informing and thought provoking...
It's neat to read about, and I'm sure it's awesome to witness the continuity of God's covenant promises through the lives of these children. We pray that you've made a positive impact and we wish you God's blessings as you prepare to return home. May He give you travelling mercies and may He strengthen you and those little ones around you when you leave your home in Haiti. God be with you all!

Wow, I didn't realize the time has come for you guys to leave...as I read this last entry tears filled up my eyes too...I can imagine the sadness you are starting to feel.

What an incredible blessing you guys were to those kids and to the construction of their new home!!!
You gave so unselfishly of yourselves, and you touched so many lives and hearts. I am sure that in many ways your hearts/lives were touched more!

I believe "your" little man will always remember the love and comfort he felt from you guys.
May God's true peace bring much comfort to you and your new friends in Haiti as you prepare to leave and travel back to your other home :)

Luv you guys
