Pentecostal kids

We haven't said too much about my job with the kids, but every day before going to Ft. Jacques I have a bit of time to "kill". I don't have an assignment of kids, however orphanage kids see precious few men in their earlier few years. Many kids go to single moms, too, so the need isn't as great there. But some( and sadly, only some) go to a home with a mom and a dad, and when the parents show up here, the child spends the first few days screaming bloody murder because of the man they just saw. So it was asked if I could take on a few in my spare time.
Sure. Only the first few, (or three or four) weren't so fun for either of us. The first time I walked into any of the kid's rooms, I may as well have been a giant vampire with giant fangs poised to suck their blood. About thirty kids( 100% of the entire room) ran shreeking in fear from the thing that looked sort of human, but wasn't.
The next day was no better, except that I was given a victim, whom I swept up in my arms as he clawed and cratched and shreeked and wailed and was running while I was carrying him off to my liar. An hour later, I returned him, still shreeking in terror at the very sight of me, to his nursery. I chose my next victim. And so on, and so on..... (Actually there were some by day two that decided that they like vampires, but they aren't going to have vampires (dads), so it's better for them to be a little afraid of them till they turn twenty-five.
The next day was no better. Or really the next.
But now the entire room has turned pentecostal on me. Vampires are cool. Especially white ones. :) :)

I agree...way to be persistent and keep on loving them even though they are running scared!
